Excursion to the foot of active Avacha volcano

Avacha Volcano

Near Avacha VolcanoWe invite you to participate in the trip to the foot of active Avacha volcano (2751 m), since 1737 it erupted 13 times. The last eruption was recorded in 1991 and even now the Avacha volcano continues to smoke. You will have an opportunity to take a walk to Verblud (Camel) mountain. The mountain appeared after the eruption of Avacha volcano thousand of years ago, during which hot lava was flowing out of the giant crack in the earth-crust and formed the mountain.


  • Drive to the foot of the Avacha volcano (2,5 – 3 hours by truck along the Sukhaya River)
  • Walk to the top of Camel Mountain (1150 m, 2 – 3 hours). Take photos of natural landscapes and flowers (depends on the season of the year) – golden rhododendron, Kamchatka rhododendron, Nelson’s saxifrage, Siberian anemone, wild rye (Elymus) are abundant in the end of June – end of July. Watch the Zhupanovsky, Vilyuchinsky, Dzenzur and an imposing Koryaksky volcano from the top of the Camel Mountain.
  • Walk back to the camp where tasty lunch is waiting for you. In the camp you will see a lot of marmots (locals usually call them “tarbagans”). Tarbagans are not afraid of people and come very close to tourists to be fed.
  • PM – drive back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky

Included: double accommodation, visa invitation and registration, transfer to the Avacha volcano (6 WD truck), guide, cook, English-speaking interpreter services, lunch (without alcohol)
