We invite You to make an unforgettable trip to a beautiful volcanic massif formed by volcanoes, Sharp and Flat Tolbachik. This is truly a unique opportunity to see the Grand consequences of the famous fissure eruptions and to look inside of our planet, to feel its pulse! Surrounded by fascinating Martian landscape You’ll feel like astronauts!

The first moon Rovers was tested here in Soviet times.

You’ll ascend the Plosky Tolbachik Volcano, known for its obstinate temper, and walk along the fresh lava flows. Be careful not to miss the opportunity to observe the brown bear, fox, tarbagan and gophers. On the way, you will meet many rare plants that miraculously grow on the barren soil of stones and ashes.

An exciting journey through the wild waters of the Kamchatka river, where You can enjoy plenty of fishing awaits you!

You will learn about the culture and lifestyle of the indigenous peoples of Kamchatka and go on a voyage on the world’s largest Avacha Bay, which is a flooded Caldera of an ancient volcano.

Tour program


Arrival to PKC. Meeting with English-speaking guide. Receipt of baggage. Transfer to the hotel. Check in. Rest & unwind from travel. In the evening – brief with a mountain guide and checking an equipment.

Early breakfast in hotel. Drive to Kozyrevsk settlement on ATV 6 WD. This is a full day driving – 502 km, ≈8 – 9 hrs.). Along the way, you will stop in an old Cossack village Milkovo for lunch. In a fair weather, you can observe the highest volcanoes of Kamchatka: Krestovsky (4057 m.), Ushkovsky (3903 m.), Klyuchevskoy (4750 m.), Kamen` (4579 m.), Plosky Tolbachik (3082 m.), Ostry Tolbachik (3672 m). Accommodation in guesthouse. Rest. Dinner. Russian bath.

Early breakfast. Drive to the district of Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption (1975-1976). The road goes through abandoned fields, taiga, on ancient lava’s field with coniferous trees, cedar to border of the Dead forest. Further, through Dead forest – drive to the Northern cones to the Tolbachik Volcano area. Set up a camp. Lunch. Walking excursion on the cones (young volcanoes, formed as result of eruption of Tolbachik in 1975 – 1976). Hot dinner. Overnight in tents.

Breakfast. Ascend the Plosky Tolbachik Volcano (≈ 4 – 5 hrs.). Observation of the crater and surrounding landscapes (≈ 1 hr.). Picnic lunch on the top. Descend (≈ 4 hrs.). Return to base camp. Hot dinner. Overnight in tents.

Active Plosky (Flat) Tolbachik volcano (3085 m) together with extinct Ostry (Sharp) Tolbachik (3682 m) is the largest volcanic massif in the southwestern sector of the Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes. The top of Plosky Tolbachik is cut off by a caldera around 3 km in diameter. The caldera is filled to the brims with ice and that makes the volcano look like a plateau nearly 3 km high. In its Western part, there is an active crater. Its depth is about 400 m and diameter is about 2 km. From the top, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of Klyuchevskaya sopka – the highest active volcano in Eurasia – 4750 m.


Breakfast. Trekking to the area of New Eruption of the Ploskiy (flat) Tolbachik Volcano in 2012 – 2013. You will see the unique lunar landscape and walk along the fresh lava flows. In Soviet times, the first moon rover was experienced here. Return to base camp. Hot dinner. Overnight in tents.

Breakfast. Drive to Milkovo settlement (250 km, ≈4 hrs.). Accommodation in guesthouse or hotel. Walk around the village and visit the Cossack church. Dinner.

Breakfast. A day in Milkovo for floating & fishing along Kamchatka river on motorboats (the biggest river on the peninsula). Acquaintance with the culture of indigenous people of Kamchatka: visiting of national Evens’ dwelling “Ochen” and the kennel of sled dogs.

Breakfast. Drive back to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city (310 km, 4 – 5 hrs.) Accommodation in hotel. Rest & unwind.

Early breakfast. Transfer to the plateau of the Southern group of volcanoes (120 km, 3,5 – 4 hrs.). Trekking to the crater of the Mutnovsky Volcano (2323 m). Seeing active fumaroles, mud siphons, mud crater, mountain lake. The crater of volcano Mutnovsky is one of the most wonderful volcanic phenomena of Kamchatka. Steep walls surround wide and deep crater with shining glaciers. Lunch on the top. Ascent takes 6 – 8 hrs.  Hot dinner. Overnight in tents.

DAY 10

Breakfast. Drive to the foot of the Gorely Volcano (1829 m).  Ascent to the top – walk along the coulee (hardened lava-stream), slag fields, seeing crater with a beautiful ice lake in one of it. Lunch-picnic on the top viewing fantastical panorama: mountain peaks, shores of the Pacific Ocean and numerous canyons surrounding the area. The excursion takes 6 – 8 hrs. Return to camp. Hot dinner. Drive back to the city. Accommodation in hotel.

DAY 11

Breakfast. Transfer to the seaport. Boarding a boat, safety instructions. Voy­age through the Avacha Bay and the natural monument Starichkov Island (6 hrs.). Sightseeing the panorama of the city from the sea, stones “Three brothers”, “Grandma’s stone”. Going out through the Avacha Bay into the Pacific Ocean. Passage to the Starichkov Island, watching seashore colonies of birds. Ocean fishing near Starichkov Island. Pas­sage to the Tikhaya Bay. A diver rises urchins, crabs, sea stars and so on from the bottom of sea. Fishing for greenling, flounder, bullhead, halibut. Lunch on board. Return to the city. Transfer to the State Kamchatka Joined museum or to Interactive museum “Volcanarium”. Excursion with lecture in museum. Sightseeing tour: Lenin Square, St.Peter & St.Paul monument, Nikolskaya hill, V. Bering monument, viewing point.

Reserve day – this day may be used to re-schedule previously described events and excursion due to weather cancellations.The schedule of this day can be changed depending on the time of the beginning of the sea excursion, since Avachinskaya Bay is not only a tourist but also a military facility and the ships can be detained for a while.

DAY 12

Free day for optional* helicopter excursions:

  • Option 1: Helicopter excursion to the Valley of Geysers – Uzon caldera – Nalychevo thermal springs / to the Kuril lake – Ksudach caldera – Khodutka thermal springs;
  • Option 2: Helicopter excursion to the Khangar caldera – Timonovskiye thermal springs

Day 13

Breakfast. Check out. Transfer to airport with stop in fish market and souvenir shops.  Check in. Departure.
